Laser processes for the energy sector: durability, repair and reliability of components
Cladding of surfaces exposed to wear, repair of critical parts by additive manufacturing, welding of high-performance components: IREPA LASER develops and industrialises laser processes suited to the service conditions of the energy sector.
Our laser expertise
Laser cladding and stelliting
Laser deposition of a protective material on surfaces exposed to wear, corrosion or extreme temperatures, without altering the chemical composition of the deposit
. Stelliting, the deposition of a cobalt-based alloy, is particularly used in the energy sector for surfaces requiring high wear resistance.
Repair by laser DED additive manufacturing
Restoration of damaged, cracked or out-of-tolerance parts with metallurgical properties equivalent to the original material. A cost-effective alternative to replacement, particularly for parts with long resupply lead times.
Laser welding of high-performance components
Welding of stainless steels, Inconel-type nickel-based alloys and titanium. Control of the heat-affected zone and of distortion. Metal assemblies up to 5 metres.
Adding features and near-net-shape blanks for machining
Local reinforcement of a highly stressed area, adding a boss to an existing part. Manufacture of near-net-shape blanks to reduce the volume of material machined away on high-value alloys.
Laser process simulation
Simulation of laser processes to predict distortion and residual stresses before manufacturing.
Training in our laser processes for the energy sector
Your teams can build their skills in our laser processes: cladding, additive manufacturing and welding of high-performance components. Our training courses pass on the set-up methodology and inspection criteria essential for reliable work on equipment in service.
Practical applications
These are the applications we work on most frequently in the energy sector:
- Cladding or stelliting of components subject to wear and corrosion
- Repair rather than replacement of out-of-tolerance critical parts with long resupply lead times
- Laser welding of stainless steel and nickel-based alloy components
- Manufacture of near-net-shape blanks for machining in high-value alloys
- Simulation
Over 40 years of laser expertise serving industry
Laser technologies are transforming industrial processes: high-precision joining, metal additive manufacturing, micro-machining of advanced materials. Yet implementing them on a production line remains complex. It requires mastery of the physical phenomena, the materials and the constraints of production rates.
Since 1982, IREPA LASER has supported manufacturers from the R&D phase through to series production. We are not just laser process experts: we are solution creators. Our R&D activity enables us to develop new processes, overcome technological barriers and give our clients answers where standard industrial solutions are no longer enough.
Every process we develop is qualified, documented and transferable to your teams.
