Metal laser welding: expertise and industrial innovation

Carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminium and its alloys, copper, titanium and its alloys, Inconels: IREPA LASER masters laser welding on all these industrial materials. Qualified, transferable processes tailored to your production requirements.

Metal laser welding: materials expertise that makes the difference

Laser welding metals is not a matter of applying a universal process. Each alloy has its own properties in terms of thermal conductivity, metallurgy, reflectivity, surface tension and sensitivity to oxidation. These parameters directly influence melt pool stability, weld bead geometry and the mechanical strength of the joint.

IREPA LASER develops laser welding processes specifically adapted to each family of materials. Our teams master the physical phenomena involved, select the optimal laser parameters and qualify processes to the requirements of your sector.

The result: precise, reliable, repeatable metal joints, documented for direct integration into your production line.

Our expertise by family of metallic materials

Mastering metal laser welding requires in-depth knowledge of how each alloy behaves under the laser beam. Here are the main families we work with and the associated technical challenges.

Range of metals processed:

  • Carbon steels
  • Stainless steels
  • Aluminium and its alloys
  • Copper
  • Titanium and its alloys
  • Inconels
  • Waspaloy
  • Precious metals
  • Other specific alloys

Training in mastering laser welding

Core course : Mastering laser welding (AL2.1)

This foundation course covers the principles of metal laser welding, laser/metal interactions and parameter control for reliable, reproducible joints.

It then leads on to four specialisations:

  1. Optimising butt welds – Carbon steels and stainless steels (AC2-1)
  2. Inspection of laser-welded metal joints (AC2-2)
  3. Optimising lap (penetration) welding of stainless steels (AC2-3)
  4. Optimising lap (penetration) welding of copper and aluminium (AC2-4)
