Laser processes for aerospace: precision, qualification and reliability
Welding of superalloys, additive manufacturing of engine parts, surface texturing: IREPA LASER develops and industrialises laser processes that meet the most stringent requirements of the aerospace sector.
Our laser expertise
Laser welding of aerospace alloys
Welding of aerospace alloys, Inconels, Waspaloy and other aerospace superalloys. Control of the heat-affected zone, distortion control, qualification to your prime contractor's standards. Metal assemblies up to 5 metres.
Laser DED additive manufacturing
Repair of engine parts (turbines, blades, compressors), manufacture of titanium blanks with a reduced buy-to-fly ratio, adding features to existing components. Wire laser DED for large parts, powder laser DED for precision and localised repairs.
Laser machining of CFRP and composites
Cutting and machining of CFRP composites without delamination or matrix degradation. Femtosecond lasers for a virtually zero heat-affected zone.
Laser surface texturing for aerospace
Texturing to improve adhesion before structural bonding, anti-icing surfaces through super-hydrophobicity, functionalisation of contact surfaces.
Laser process simulation
Simulation of laser processes to predict distortion and residual stresses before manufacturing.
Training in our aerospace laser processes
Your teams can upskill in our laser processes: welding of superalloys, DED additive manufacturing and laser machining of composites. Our courses pass on the set-up methodology and inspection criteria essential for compliant aerospace parts.
Practical applications
These are the applications we work on most frequently in the aerospace sector:
- Repair of Inconel and titanium turbine components: restoring the geometry while preserving metallurgical properties
- Manufacture of grade 5 titanium blanks for aerostructures: reduced material waste
- Laser welding of structural components in aluminium and titanium alloys
- Laser surface texturing to improve adhesion before bonding
- Simulation
Over 40 years of laser expertise serving industry
Laser technologies are transforming industrial processes: high-precision joining, metal additive manufacturing, micromachining of advanced materials. Yet implementing them on a production line remains complex. It requires mastery of physical phenomena, materials and throughput constraints.
Since 1982, IREPA LASER has supported manufacturers from the R&D phase through to series production. We are not just laser process experts: we are solution creators. Our R&D activity enables us to develop new processes, overcome technological barriers and offer our customers answers where standard industrial solutions do not yet exist.
Every process we develop is qualified, documented and transferable to your teams.
