Industrial laser processes: we speak your sector's language

Aerospace, energy, nuclear, defence, e-mobility, watchmaking and jewellery: IREPA LASER develops and industrialises laser processes tailored to the real constraints of each industry. Welding, additive manufacturing, machining, texturing, simulation.

The same process, but completely different requirements from one sector to another

Welding a superalloy for an engine part, cladding a power plant valve, joining a copper busbar or micro-welding a watch component: each time it's laser, and each time it's a different trade. What changes are the materials, tolerances, production rates, qualification standards and the cost of a non-conformity.

That is why we never approach a project from the machine, but from your constraint. Since 1982, IREPA LASER has supported manufacturers from feasibility through to series production, developing qualified, documented processes on our industrial equipment that can be transferred to your teams

Our sectors

Aerospace & Space

Precision, qualification and reliability on critical materials.

  • Welding of superalloys: titanium, Inconel, Waspaloy
  • Repair of engine parts
  • Titanium blanks with a reduced buy-to-fly ratio
  • CFRP composite machining and texturing prior to structural bonding

Energy

Surface durability and repair rather than replacement.

  • Cladding and stelliting of surfaces exposed to wear
  • Repair of out-of-tolerance parts with long replacement lead times
  • Welding of components in stainless steels and alloys

Nuclear

Component reliability in sensitive environments.

  • Stelliting and laser cladding of power plant components
  • Laser DED repair with preserved metallurgical properties
  • Adding local features to existing parts

Defence

Precision and robustness for critical applications.

  • Welding of critical alloys: titanium, Inconel, special steels
  • Maintaining operational readiness through laser repair
  • Machining and laser micro-cutting of advanced materials

E-mobility

Conductive joints, sealing and transition to series production.

  • Transmission welding of copper and aluminium
  • Sealed joining of sensors and fluidic systems
  • Welding of engineering polymers without adhesive or consumables

Watchmaking and jewellery

Invisible micro-assembly and high-end finishing.

  • Micro-welding of precious metals and specific alloys
  • Precision engraving on dials and components
  • Laser micro-cutting and laser surface texturing

The processes we deploy across all these sectors

Whatever your market, our work relies on the same families of processes. What changes is how they are implemented.

  • Laser welding: metal, polymers and glass, in small and medium batches
  • Laser DED additive manufacturing: wire and powder, for repairing, cladding, adding features or producing parts
  • Laser machining: drilling, texturing, micro-cutting and engraving
  • Thermomechanical simulation : anticipating distortion and stresses before manufacturing
  • Laser safety: installation audits, regulatory advice and team training
  • Training: upskilling your teams in laser processes and laser safety

End-to-end support, from feasibility to series production

We step in at whichever stage you need, on a complete project or on a specific technical issue:

Project engineering

Design and validation of your laser application, whatever the material and complexity

Laser process development

Parameter optimisation, quality control and reliability of joints or deposits

Industrialisation & pre-series

Process securing, production set-up and performance testing

Production

Production of parts in small and medium batches

Training

Upskilling your teams in laser processes and laser safety

Support & assistance

Technical follow-up, advice and continuous optimisation throughout the project or production

Our R&D activity enables us to develop new processes and overcome technological barriers when standard industrial solutions are no longer enough.

Train your teams in laser processes

IREPA LASER is also a Qualiopi-certified training centre for training activities, training more than 1,300 professionals a year. Laser safety, welding, machining, additive manufacturing: our programmes cover the full range of industrial laser technologies.

Courses are led by the engineers who develop these processes day to day, with hands-on practical work on industrial equipment. They are available as open (inter-company) courses, in-house, e-learning and tailor-made.

Your questions

My sector is not on your list – can you still support me?

Yes. The six sectors presented are those in which we work most often, not a limit. Our processes apply wherever part performance is critical and the cost of scrap is high: medical, microtechnology, electronics, automotive, general industry. The best approach is to describe your part and your constraint to us, rather than looking for your sector in a list.

Which laser processes do you use?

Laser welding of metals, polymers and technical glass. Laser DED additive manufacturing, with wire and powder, for repairing, cladding, adding features or producing parts. Laser machining: drilling, laser surface texturing, micro-cutting and engraving. Thermomechanical simulation of DED processes. And laser safety, through audits, consultancy and training.

Do you work only in development, or in production as well?

Both. We provide support from the feasibility phase through to series production, and we manufacture parts ourselves in small and medium batches. You can therefore entrust us with developing a process, producing with it, or both.

Do you work with critical materials?

Yes, this is our usual territory: titanium and its alloys, Inconel, Waspaloy, stainless and engineering steels, tool steels, aluminium, copper, Stellite-type cobalt-based alloys, precious metals. On the non-metallic side: engineering thermoplastics, soda-lime and borosilicate glass, composites. If your material is not on this list, the question is addressed through a feasibility study.

Can you qualify a process to our prime contractors' standards?

That is how we work. Every process we develop is qualified, documented and transferable to your teams. Qualification is carried out to your standards and those of your prime contractors, which means building them in from the project scoping stage rather than at the end.

What happens in an initial discussion?

You describe your part, material, volume and the constraint you are trying to overcome. Our experts tell you what is feasible, what is not, and which step to start with. There is no obligation, and we sometimes conclude that laser is not the right answer to your problem.

Let's talk about your project.

Material, geometry, production rate, sector, qualification requirements: tell us where you stand. Our experts analyse your application and propose a suitable approach, with no obligation.
