Training course for companies using a Class 3R, 3B or 4 laser that need a Laser Safety Officer to meet the requirements of the Labour Code. This training course enables participants to analyse risk situations and take the necessary steps to ensure staff safety. It provides the tools to include the laser risk in the DUER (single occupational risk assessment document), which is not documented by exposure values.
Over 2 days
1) Specific features of laser radiation
- Characteristics of laser light
- Operating principle
- Visible, infrared or ultraviolet lasers
- Specific features of continuous-wave and pulsed lasers
2) Risk assessment
- Physiological effects: impact on the eyes and skin
- Thermal and photochemical effects
- Analysis of risk situations
- Other risks: electrical, chemical, fire…
3) Regulations
- European Directive 2006/25/EC
- French Labour Code
- NF EN 60825-1 standard
- Definition of VLE, DNDO, LEA
- Classification of lasers
4) Prevention measures
- Layout of premises (industrial, entertainment, medical…)
- Management of people flows
- Signage
- Eye and skin protection
5) Validation of learning
- Test of knowledge and skills acquired
- Identify the general laser risks inherent in the use of lasers
- Identify the specific risks of each application
- Assess the risks of an installation
- Achieve compliance with occupational regulations
