IREPA LASER is expanding!
Laying the foundation stone of the additive manufacturing Factory
IREPA LASER celebrated its 40th anniversary on 17 and 18 October. These two days of celebration were an opportunity to unveil the plaque of the future additive manufacturing Factory in the presence of Blaise GOURTAY, Secretary General for Regional and European Affairs of the Bas-Rhin prefecture and the Grand Est region (SGARE); Jean ROTTNER, President of the Grand Est Region; Anne-Marie JEAN, Vice-President of the Eurométropole de Strasbourg and Thibaud PHILIPPS, Mayor of Illkirch-Graffenstaden.
This Factory, a first in France, dedicated to additive manufacturing using the DED-Laser process, will house four metal 3D printing machines on a 300 m² platform co-financed by the Grand Est Region and the ERDF.
Ground broken – work on the extension has begun
Announced several months ago, the work to extend IREPA LASER’s premises began in October. The objective? To turn IREPA LASER into a true Factory of the Future, focused on Additive Manufacturing. Here is where things stand!
A preparatory stage involved reorganising our workshops. Installing a new sectional door on the north side required space to be freed up for an access area. The chosen solution was to rent an annex building a few kilometres away and move non-essential equipment there.
Earthworks have also begun. An impressive drilling machine was deployed to install the piles on which the slab of the extension will rest.
Construction of the building will begin early next year and is expected to continue throughout the first half of the year. The additive manufacturing machines will then be moved to their locations before the internal structure is completed.
Completion of the work is currently scheduled for the end of November 2023. IREPA LASER will then have a 300 m2 extension entirely dedicated to XXL AM.
