The automotive sector at the birthplace of additive manufacturing
More than a hundred industrial companies, invited by the Pôle Véhicule du Futur, will meet on 12 June at CIRTES in Saint-Dié to discover the latest advances in additive manufacturing, a sector in which the Grand Est region is at the forefront of the competition.
On the programme: a discovery of the 7 main 3D manufacturing processes identified worldwide.
“ The Grand Est region is among the frontrunners, with 3 of these 7 processes born in the area. It is even the birthplace of additive manufacturing in France. These include the CLAD® process from the Illkirch-based research and development company IREPA LASER, near Strasbourg, which produces technical parts by stacking layers of material. ‘This technique involves melting metal powders with a laser in order to control the dimensions of the deposit created,’ explains IREPA LASER. ”
At the end of this technical day, the “Grand Est Additive Manufacturing Network” will be inaugurated, with the key objective of bringing together all regional players in the additive manufacturing value chain.
