Although historically widespread, explosive forming has several major drawbacks for industry that laser welding can resolve:

- Risks of corrosion and long drying times
- Mechanical deformation of parts
- The need for seam welding, which is energy-intensive and restrictive

The solution is high energy density laser welding
To meet these challenges, IREPA LASER implemented an advanced laser solution based on through-penetration laser welding, using high energy density sources.

- Path flexibility: line, circle, spiral… depending on the geometry of the plates
- High laser welding speed, reaching several metres per minute
- Simplified quality control, notably by visual inspection (in the case of a full-penetration weld)
- Elimination of hazardous processes, for enhanced safety
