40 years of innovation
In September 2022, our SCIC IREPA LASER will be celebrating its 40th birthday!
IREPA LASER is a cooperative ecosystem of members, experts, customers, suppliers and partners who have placed their trust in us over all these years. And it is with all of you that we wish to celebrate this anniversary!
>> To find out more about our 40 years and stay informed all year round, stay connected.
Two leaders who helped write the history of IREPA LASER have their say…
They look back on the pioneering vision that has made IREPA LASER a key player in technological innovation today.
Olivier Fréneaux, founder of IREPA LASER:
“ 40 years of innovation symbolise the perseverance of the teams, who remain just as motivated to transfer laser technologies, and the long-standing trust of the State and the Region, which have supported IREPA LASER for 40 years.
It is also recognition of the strategic choice made 40 years ago by the founders of IREPA LASER and its funders, mainly the Alsace Region, to develop a technology transfer activity in the field of lasers.”
Éric Fogarassy, director of IREPA LASER from 2002 to 2005:
“In my view, IREPA LASER’s 40 years of innovation are inseparable from the tremendous technological revolution in lasers over the same period, without which none of this would have been possible.
The early 1980s were marked by the rise of pulsed lasers and the market launch of sources emitting in the ultraviolet range (excimer lasers). The turn of the 2000s saw the rapid industrial development of high-power disk and fibre lasers. Finally, the last decade has been marked by the emergence of ultrashort pulse laser technology (pico/femtosecond), set to revolutionise the micro- and nanotechnology sector.
For 40 years, IREPA LASER can thus be proud of having been at the forefront of innovation in laser processes, responding to industry’s ongoing need to reduce production costs while taking environmental constraints into account”
Thank you to all the incredible people who have made the IREPA LASER adventure a reality.
Here’s to the next 40 years and the new challenges we look forward to taking on together!
