1982-2022: 40 years of projects!

A look back at the CO LASER project:

CO LASER? A programme aimed at implementing laser stripping on an industrial scale.

At the end of the 1980s, our experts were working on the cleaning of historic monuments, a process that turned out to have real potential for industry.

A development programme was therefore quickly set up for the aerospace sector.
The aim? To prove that laser stripping could be an alternative to existing processes, particularly for preparing composite parts before bonding or for the selective stripping of civil and military aircraft parts, which at the time were mostly stripped with chemicals.

Despite convincing results, the laser solution was often less productive and was set aside for several decades.

And today?

30 years later, thanks to technological advances, lasers are increasingly used to strip paint and oxide, or to prepare surfaces before treatment.
