Laser safety booklet – 2024 edition
IREPA LASER is pleased to present its new booklet on laser safety.
Information on laser hazards (industry, medical, entertainment, scientific, metrology)
The aim of this compendium is to raise awareness among people who, in the course of their work, regularly or occasionally come into contact with a high-power laser source (classes > 2M) or a safeguarded system (Class 1) incorporating a laser source of a class higher than 2M.
The new regulations in force, in particular Decree 2010-750 of 2 July 2010 (transposing Directive 2006/25/EC), have helped to clarify somewhat the rules for using laser systems in the industrial, medical and scientific fields as well as in everyday life.
The purpose of this booklet is to provide information on the risks associated with the use of lasers. It should enable exposed personnel to identify the risks to which they may be exposed and to implement the protective measures needed for their own safety and that of their immediate surroundings.
We wrote it to provide practical answers to attitudes, habits or negligence that can cause accidents of varying severity. This guide was produced by specialists in laser applications and laser safety. They support manufacturers and users in integrating laser safety into laser equipment and take part in training activities. They are accredited by the Commission Nationale de Sécurité Optique et Laser of the Photonics France federation.
