Looking back at the madAM days workshop

IREPA LASER and CIRTES organised, as part of the Grand Est Additive Manufacturing Network, their first national workshop with European ambitions on the key challenges of the digital chain in additive manufacturing: the “madAM days”.

This workshop, held on 10 and 11 April 2019 on the premises in Strasbourg – Illkirch, brought together around forty people: a wide range of French manufacturers (BeAM, SAFRAN, THALES, …), speakers, users and solution developers, as well as the additive manufacturing teams of IREPA LASER and CIRTES.

The aim was to provide a cross-cutting focus on the tools of the digital chain, namely design, modelling and simulation. These new tools give users solutions to optimise products in terms of performance, cost and lead times, while guaranteeing a right-first-time part. Mastering the digital chain before the manufacturing phase is all the more essential for producing large parts, especially when they are made from expensive materials.

The conference programme presented participants with a digital toolbox and the solutions it contains. Testimonials from experts and users, together with a panel of developers and solution providers, gave an overall view of the performance achieved.

These days were also an opportunity to visit IREPA LASER’s workshops, with demonstrations on the CLAD® machine and the 3D micromachining centre. A visit to BeAM’s facilities in Strasbourg was also on the programme.

See you at the next additive manufacturing workshop, which may be held at CIRTES in Saint Dié Les Vosges in June.
