Laser training courses 2027: new dates and a new laser safety course
Laser safety, welding, machining, additive manufacturing… IREPA LASER's 2027 training dates are now available online. A new Laser Safety Officer (RSL) course has also been added to the catalogue to help industrial companies develop their teams' skills.
Mastering laser technology involves much more than simply knowing how to operate equipment. Understanding physical phenomena, adjusting process parameters, identifying the causes of defects and managing associated risks are all essential skills in an industrial environment.
To help companies prepare their 2027 training plans, IREPA LASER presents its new training schedule, updated programmes and several new courses.
Four training areas to meet the challenges of industrial laser technology
IREPA LASER's training offer is structured around four main areas, covering both personnel safety and the mastery of laser processes.
1.Laser safety training
Laser safety is a major concern for any company using laser equipment.
These courses provide an understanding of the risks associated with laser radiation, the necessary preventive measures and the knowledge required for different levels of responsibility: operators, technicians, safety managers and laser safety specialists.

2. Laser welding training
Mastering laser welding requires an in-depth understanding of the interactions between the laser beam, the material and the operating conditions.
From process fundamentals to optimisation, these courses cover parameter selection, weld quality, defect identification and the specific characteristics of manual and automated laser welding.

3. Laser machining training
Engraving, micromachining, material removal… Laser machining processes offer solutions for applications requiring high precision and surface functionalisation.
These courses aim to develop a better understanding of laser-material interactions, help participants select appropriate process parameters and master the conditions required for successful process implementation.

4. Other industrial laser applications and laser additive manufacturing training
Laser technologies offer a wide range of possibilities beyond welding and machining.
This training area includes courses dedicated to metal additive manufacturing, understanding different laser technologies and integrating them into industrial applications.

Spotlight on IREPA LASER's key training courses
Certain courses address recurring industrial needs, whether related to securing installations, mastering a process or developing team autonomy.
Laser safety: training tailored to every level of responsibility
From basic awareness to laser risk management, IREPA LASER offers training courses adapted to different levels of responsibility, in accordance with the CoNSOL framework:
- Level 1 – Laser Safety Informed Person (PISL): acquire fundamental knowledge of laser safety and essential preventive practices.
- Level 2 – Person Exposed to Laser Risks (PERL): understand laser hazards and protective measures when working in laser environments, with specific training pathways for manual laser welding or cleaning and for establishments open to the public (ERP).
- Level 3 – Laser Safety Officer (RSL): assess hazardous situations, organise preventive measures and support the implementation of laser safety procedures.
- Level 4 – Laser Safety Competent Person (PCSL): develop advanced risk assessment skills and determine appropriate protective measures.
Because laser safety knowledge must be regularly updated, IREPA LASER also offers refresher training for Levels 2 and 3. These short courses allow participants to review essential principles, incorporate regulatory and standards-related developments and maintain effective preventive practices.
The training offer also includes a dedicated course on laser machine design and compliance, as well as a trainer's kit to support in-house laser safety awareness sessions.

Mastering laser welding: understanding, adjusting and optimising the process
Achieving a satisfactory weld does not always guarantee reproducible results in production.
Laser welding training courses help participants deepen their understanding of the process, better assess the influence of operating parameters and develop the skills needed to identify defects and improve weld quality.

Laser engraving and machining: mastering laser-material interactions
The quality of a laser machining operation depends on several factors, including the material, laser beam characteristics and selected parameters.
This course provides a better understanding of material removal mechanisms and practical methods for adjusting and optimising engraving and machining operations.

New for 2027: Laser Safety Officer (RSL) training
In 2027, IREPA LASER is expanding its laser safety training offer with a new course: Laser Safety Officer (RSL – Level 3).
Positioned between the Person Exposed to Laser Risks (PERL) and Laser Safety Competent Person (PCSL) courses, this training addresses the needs of professionals responsible for organising and coordinating laser risk prevention in the workplace.
Delivered over 2 days (14 hours), the course enables participants to develop the skills required to:
- Identify and assess risks associated with Class 1 to Class 4 laser installations;
- Define appropriate preventive and protective measures, including collective protective equipment (CPE) and personal protective equipment (PPE);
- Implement safety procedures and integrate risk assessments into the French Occupational Risk Assessment Document (DUERP);
- Ensure that installations comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
This new course represents an important step towards structuring laser risk prevention before moving on to the more advanced technical assessments and safety calculations covered in the PCSL course.

Training rooted in industrial experience
At IREPA LASER, training draws on more than 40 years of experience in laser process development and industrialisation.
Courses are delivered by experts who work daily on industrial and R&D projects. They combine theoretical knowledge, practical experience and, depending on the course, hands-on training using industrial equipment.
Every year, more than 1,400 professionals receive training at IREPA LASER, a training centre holding Qualiopi certification for its training activities.
Training courses are available in inter-company and in-company formats, remotely or as customised programmes, depending on the course. They can therefore be adapted to each company's specific activities, equipment and technical challenges.
