Surface functionalisation for metallisation: glass / copper / aluminium
Industrial need
Adding electrical and electronic functions to initially insulating surfaces in a localised, selective manner, in order to enable the creation of circuits, antennas or heat dissipation functions.
IREPA LASER solution
Use of a selective laser metallisation process to deposit and locally structure metallic materials on glass, copper or aluminium surfaces. The process is carried out directly, without solvents or prior chemical treatment.
Technical challenge
The challenge is to achieve functional metallisation in a single step, in open atmosphere, without chemical or mechanical activation and without pre- or post-treatment. It is also necessary to guarantee the precision of the deposited function while controlling the electrical, mechanical and aesthetic properties of the treated areas.
Results achieved
The process transforms insulating surfaces into conductive or resistive functional areas with controlled electrical and electronic properties. It paves the way for the creation of circuits, antennas and heat dissipation functions, while also offering possibilities for decorative metallic or coloured finishes.
