USP laser micromachining: a key technology for the industry of the future
USP laser micromachining: a lever for the industry of the future
For more than 15 years, IREPA LASER has been investing in the research and development of USP (ultra-short pulse) laser micromachining. This advanced process, free of heating and stress, opens up concrete prospects for industrial sectors seeking precision, durability and performance.
LASERSURF: a joint laboratory dedicated to USP laser micromachining
It was in this spirit that, in 2023, we created the LASERSURF joint laboratory, accredited by the ANR, in partnership with the ICube laboratory (Université de Strasbourg – CNRS).
Objective: to develop new know-how in the USP laser micromachining of large, complex surfaces, combining scientific research and industrial expertise.
A structured R&D roadmap built around 6 strategic areas
Our work is organised around 6 key areas:
- Advanced simulation
- Materials / process database
- Monitoring and artificial intelligence
- Spatial and temporal beam engineering
- Robotics
Clear objectives to transform USP processes
This ambitious roadmap aims to:
- Increase the productivity and profitability of USP processes
- Extend their capabilities to the 3D processing of large parts
- Develop smart, adaptive processes
- Make the technology simpler and more accessible for all industrial sectors
USP laser micromachining: a catalyst for innovation for sustainable industry
Micromachining with USP lasers, beyond being a precision tool, is thus becoming a catalyst for innovation serving a high-performance, sustainable and competitive industry.
